A WHIMSICAL FOREST WEDDING AT SAND ROCK FARM, SANTA CRUZ

After 13 years together, Pris and Ben celebrated their intimate forest wedding at Sand Rock Farm, a charming bed and breakfast wedding venue nestled in the hills of Aptos near Santa Cruz.

Known for its rustic barn, historic farmhouse, wine barrel-aging cellar, and shaded redwood grounds, Sand Rock Farm is one of the most unique woodland wedding venues in the Santa Cruz area. Its cozy, nature-filled setting made the perfect backdrop for Pris and Ben’s colorful, design-forward celebration — not to mention it’s dog-friendly, which was non-negotiable for this couple.

When we first met, they described themselves as casual and playful. They wanted a wedding film that felt true to their personalities — relaxed, creative, and a little quirky. And of course, their corgi Duplo needed a starring role (including some POV shots from his perspective). Done and done.

INTIMATE INTERVIEWS AND TEA CEREMONY IN THE FARMHOUSE

The day began inside the historic farmhouse, where I filmed intimate guest interviews — something Pris and Ben specifically requested. They wanted to remember the voices, advice, and laughter of their loved ones for years to come.

I also recorded short pre-ceremony interviews with the couple, capturing their emotions before officially becoming husband and wife. These audio moments add depth to a story-driven wedding film and are often the pieces couples cherish most.

Before guests arrived, they held a casual tea ceremony to honor their parents and grandmothers. The quiet “I love you’s,” blessings, and tender exchanges became some of the most meaningful parts of their wedding video.

REDWOOD GROVE CEREMONY WITH A DOG RING BEARER

Pris and Ben exchanged vows beneath towering redwoods, framed by whimsical floral arch pieces and golden afternoon light filtering through the trees.

Ben had a few adorably nervous moments while repeating his vows, which only made the ceremony more heartfelt and real. Then came Duplo — their four-legged ring bearer — proudly delivering the rings before refusing to leave their side. A family member eventually carried him off, but not before we captured one of the sweetest, most unscripted highlights of the day.

PERSONAL WEDDING DETAILS AT THE APTOS B&B VENUE

One of the most inspiring parts of Pris and Ben’s wedding was how much of it they designed themselves. Not out of necessity, but because they genuinely love creating together.

They shared with me that the months leading up to the wedding were filled with candle-making dates, table signage design chats, wedding newspaper designing, and assembling an escort board featuring photos of each guest. Their decor felt intentional, artistic, and deeply personal — a perfect fit for this intimate Santa Cruz wedding venue.

LIVELY RECEPTION IN THE HISTORIC WINE CELLAR

Guests walked over from cocktail hour outside the rustic barn to the vine-covered stone wine cellar for dinner and dancing. The fairy lights, farm tables, and vibrant color palette of Pris and Ben’s decor transformed the historic space into a cozy, energetic reception space.

They celebrated with live music from their band and cut into a cake topped with a tiny Duplo figurine nibbling at the frosting — a small detail that perfectly summed up their playful vibe.

A PLAYFUL, STORY-DRIVEN SANTA CRUZ WEDDING FILM

What makes this Sand Rock Farm wedding so special to me is how intentionally Pris and Ben stayed true to themselves. They prioritized emotion, creativity, and fun — and trusted me to reflect that in their wedding film.

From the tea ceremony blessings and guest interviews to the sound of them calling Duplo’s name across the lawn, the audio storytelling shaped a wedding film that feels immersive and deeply personal.

As a Bay Area wedding videographer, I believe the in-between moments — the laughter, nerves, and quiet conversations — are just as important as the grand ones. And this wedding was filled with all of it.
