A MODERN FAIRYTALE WEDDING AT THE GARDENS AT HEATHER FARM

Megan and Javier’s spring celebration felt like something out of a storybook at The Gardens at Heather Farm — one of the most charming garden wedding venues in the East Bay. Their May wedding blended soft romance, thoughtful details, and laid-back joy in a way that perfectly complemented this beloved Walnut Creek venue.

From whimsical signage made with thrifted art paintings to a delicate pink color palette and newspaper-style wedding programs, every detail felt intentional and personal. The venue’s blooming roses, Mediterranean landscaping, and peaceful pathways created the perfect backdrop for their modern fairytale wedding.

These college sweethearts found me through their photographer. They were drawn to the soft, authentic storytelling style of my films, and wanted a wedding film to feel genuine and emotional - not overproduced - which fit beautifully with their relaxed personalities.

A SERENE SPRING GARDEN FIRST LOOK IN WALNUT CREEK

Their day began with a first look beneath a picturesque wooden arbor tucked into the garden’s Mediterranean garden space. Surrounded by grapevines and seasonal blooms, Megan and Javier exchanged deeply sentimental private vows, the moment that looked like a scene straight out of a fairytale.

As a Bay Area wedding videographer, I loved filming at The Gardens at Heather Farm in spring — the roses were in full bloom, California trees provided natural shade, and every corner of the property feels lush and serene. Drone footage highlighted the scale and beauty of this outdoor gem, showcasing why it’s such a popular choice for East Bay couples.

ROMANTIC CEREMONY BENEATH THE ROSE-COVERED GAZEBO

Their ceremony took place under the venue’s iconic rose-covered gazebo — one of the most photographed spots at The Gardens at Heather Farm. With soft pink florals complementing the natural greenery, the setting felt intimate yet timeless.

Between exchanging spiritual vows and sharing their love story, their officiant paused to acknowledge the presence and support of family and friends — a meaningful moment that grounded the ceremony in gratitude and connection.

GOLDEN HOUR PORTRAITS IN THE ROSE GARDEN

With guests enjoying dinner, we slipped away for sunset portraits in the vibrant rose garden. The light filtered beautifully through the blooms, creating a soft, romantic atmosphere.

But what made these moments special wasn’t just the setting — it was Megan and Javier’s connection. Their comfort with each other (and with us) allowed for natural, candid footage filled with laughter, quiet smiles, and genuine affection. Those are the moments that truly shape a wedding film.

A SWEET, STORY-DRIVEN GARDEN WEDDING FILM

When creating their highlight film, I focused not only on the dreamy garden aesthetic, but also on the people who filled the day with warmth. Their wedding wasn’t just about beautiful details — it was about celebrating alongside the friends and family who shaped their story, something they wanted to remember through their film.

To reflect their playful personalities, I ended their film with a lighthearted blooper reel, featuring candid laughs and the recurring joke about Javier somehow ending up with glitter on his face all day. Those in-between moments are often the ones couples cherish most.
